Even the most rocking #udlrockstars can get creeped by traditional paradigm. And why not? After all, most of us were raised in this paradigm. It’s the model we looked at every day for years. When we played school as children, we mimicked what we saw in those traditional learning environments. It is indeed one of the cultural lenses that we must always be aware of as we design and interact. You’ve seen those internet memes that say, “Sometimes I open my mouth, and my mother comes out.” Well, sometimes I open my #udlrockstar mouth, and the traditional paradigm slips out. I bet it happens to you too. It happens to all of us. Occasionally those old definitions of success, work, good behavior, participation, or collaboration bubble up in our design, our student interactions, and our professional networking.
