2018 UDL-IRN International Summit

The Desired Results Developmental Profile, DRDP (2015), an authentic assessment developed by the California Department of Education, was developed to ensure that all young children have the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills, including children with disabilities and dual language learners. This strengths-based assessment promotes positive outcomes for children from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and children with differing abilities and different interests. All children are entitled access to, and meaningful participation in, learning experiences and early childhood curriculum. The principles of universal design were incorporated into the DRDP’s introduction, item descriptors, examples, rating process, definition of mastery, and use of adaptations.
